Hotel ibis Preston North

Garstang Rd, Preston PR3 5JE, UK – 01772 861800

Very nice hotel, clean room, quiet enough. All in all a very pleasant experience. The only downside, the pillows were a little too firm for my liking

It was very clean and spacious. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

The Park Hotel

209 Tulketh Rd, Preston PR2 1ES, UK – 01772 726250

Checked in late afternoon, given our key and directed to our room which was in the next door building, literally 5m away so not a problem at all. The room was compact, there is a TV, tea/coffee facilities, bath/shower room, a single seat and the double bed. The bed was the comfiest bed we have slept in at a hotel, it was brilliant, the duvet was soft too. Breakfast had plenty of choices to have, the pancakes were great. Check out is very accommodating as it is 11am and it was easy to do so. Overall this is a lovely hotel and we would recommend and stay here again.

Had my wedding reception the food was excellent the staff where very friendly and helpful my family and friends stayed the night and the rooms where lovely. Excellent Hotel.

Travelodge Preston Central Hotel

Preston Farmers Office, New Hall Ln, Preston PR1 5NX, UK – 0871 984 6150

Whilst the Travelodge itself is of a rypical standard, the parking is not good. Using a converted mill building, the frequent upright pillars make maneuvering a vehicle incredibly difficult and can lead to some scuffs on even the most average sized cars. Proceed with caution.

The staff are great. Very helpful. We were offered a free night for reporting a few items that weren't satisfactory, which we thought was very kind. You can't complain with that. A manager needs to step up to the plate to help the staff be proud of their place of work. It's alright giving the place a lick of paint but what matters is having everything working in the room.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Sherwood

Sherwood Way, Fulwood, Preston PR2 9GA, UK – 01772 716530

Great food and the place looks even better after the new refurb. Nice family friendly atmosphere in the restaurant area and also nice to just go and have a drink and relax. Been going here for years on and off and the current staff and landlady are always very welcoming and offer real home from home feeling.

Always good food and drink , friendly staff. In my opinion 1 of the best chain pub/restaurants in Preston. Has got a pool table , Loads of parking and has a lovely pond in the outside seating area where in summer your often find some ducks .

Olde Dog & Partridge

44 Friargate, Preston PR1 2AT, UK – 01772 252217

Friendly staff and ok prices, they have an outdoor seating area with heat lamps so you can sit out even when it's cold. It's a bit dark inside for me but my dad and uncle really like the place. It's a good place for a meal or a few drinks though

They may just have the cleanest pub toilets in Preston....bit of a strange comment I know but it is so nice to use toilets that are clean and fresh smelling...unlike many of the other pubs in the friargate area(I won't name and shame,). The staff are always friendly and the no grumbles about the drinks..they are always served well and the draught bitters and lagers are fresh and lively...a regular stop off after shopping in town on a weekend :)

The Wellington Inn

40 Glover's Ct, Preston PR1 3LS, UK – 01772 821288

Great food, beer, prices and service.

Best place in town for food, as long as they keep the kitchen staff after takeover

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Whitburn House Hotel

111 Garstang Rd, Fulwood, Preston PR2 3EB, UK – 01772 717973

Rather a grand building (and location) for just a B & B, e.g. high ceilings. Recent redecoration: fairly minimalist but tasteful. Staff very friendly & helpful. Breakfast not the best I've had but there are options and so I'll try a different one tomorrow. Watch out for access to the car as it is round the back, on Lorraine Ave.

Cheap and clean. Not too far from town. Breakfast included

Ashton Lodge Guest House

37 Victoria Parade, Preston PR2 1DT, UK – 01772 728414

The lady who runs the hotel was very nice and always was ready to help you and please you if you needed things. The breakfast was amazing with both cooked and a whole wide choice of cereals and spreads laid out to help yourself and you could have as much as you wanted. The rooms were very clean and spacious but the down side is each floor had to share a bathroom/toilet with the other guests.

Nice and friendly staff lovely breakfast

Ashwood Hotel - Preston City Centre

11-13 Fishergate Hill, Preston PR1 8JB, UK – 01772 203302

Staff is very friendly. Laura was fantastic. obviously a bit hard to sleep as hotel is right on the main road. Constant stream of vehicles from dusk to dawn. Breakfast was great.

Good value for money. Good breakfast and lovely staff.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Food is always nice and reasonably priced for the quality. Few places can beat their eggs benedict. Pancakes and meringues are lovely. Great vegetarian options too. They also offer student discount.
